Ways to Save Water in Your Home
Water is obviously an absolute necessity when it comes to resources in your home. Not only does it play a major role in keeping your home and body clean and hygienic, but it is absolutely necessary to keep your body functioning, alive and well, at the biological level. Knowing all of this doesn’t make it any less irksome to see a very high water bill come through, however. But you can’t go without water, so what can you do, right?
Wrong. There is plenty that you can be doing to reduce your water costs, and the main method is right there in what we just said: reduce! Obviously you’re going to continue to use water in your home. That is never going to change. But you want to be sure that you are using water in a smart and thoughtful manner. Here are some helpful tips.
Use a Faucet Aerator
This is one of the simplest ways in which you can start to scale back water usage in your home. The best part? Once that aerator is in place, you’re probably never really going to think about it again. The fact is that for most applications in your home, a full draft from the faucet is more than you really need.
A faucet aerator basically just attaches to the faucet in question—we recommend installation at all faucets—and allows for the mixing of air and the water coming from the faucet. That means that you’re going to be using less water, while still having access to the water that you need for cleaning up, brushing teeth, washing hair, etc. Keep it simple, keep it effective. Aerate!
Run Water Only When Using Water
Bad habits can be tough to break. Even tougher to break are bad habits on behalf of others in your home. We cannot stress this one enough, though. You need to use the water in your home only when you’re actually using it! What does that mean?
It means that you don’t keep the water running when you’re brushing your teeth, or when you’re scrubbing pots and pans. Sure, the shower can be soothing—but when you’re done cleaning up, don’t just stand there soaking in the atmosphere! Again, a little bit of conservation can really go a long way when it comes to keeping your water bill manageable.
When Replacing Equipment, Keep Conservation in Mind
We’re not suggesting that you need to rip out all of your plumbing fixtures right now, especially when they’re not that old and they’re functioning just fine. Keep the matter of conservation in mind moving forward, though. From low-flow toilets to front-loading washing machines, there are a lot of appliances and fixtures out there ready and willing to do most of the work for you when it comes to cutting back on your water consumption. Been using these guys for years now. Water heater replacement, pressure regulator valve replacement, HVAC tune-ups, UV light installation and more. Their attention to detail is excellent. He made sure everything was working like it should and cleaned the system as well. He also made recommendations on how to help keep it clean. Would recommend him to anyone.

It was time for my furnace rejuvenation and fortunately it was a cool enough day to turn the heater on for the first time. He was prompt, friendly and knew his stuff. Because I have allergies and pets, he did tell me about an air purification system that I might want to consider in the future, which I appreciated. Would definitely recommend him and Goettl.

Called very very early and had someone out that morning to triage what needed to be done (Billy) and then Raymond and Manny G came out and installed my new unit and a new thermostat. I have had two over flows in the sewer system in the past but before Goettl I didn’t understand what should be done to eliminate the problem in future . Today, Rodell did a thorough clean-out of our bathroom sink drains, including sending the camera down to check for build up out to the main connection to the sewer. This was included in our membership with no extra charge. He and his partner also found the mystery leak in the guest bathroom toilet and replaced the guts and seals. The thing I liked the best was his advice about maintenance and how that little hole in the sink is a real drain that also needs flushing out by letting the sink fill up periodically. Goettl has been amazing w/prices and top-notch work. The service technicians have been nothing but great. We had Mike H install a whole new water heater, pressure valve regulator, and new washer hoses. Initially, the visit was for a free full house plumbing check that comes free w/our membership, and we suspected our water heater was having issues so it was helpful to have Mike come out and check. He checked our water heater last, and, unfortunately, our suspicions were correct. Our water heater needed to be replaced b/c it was old. Mike explained to us the issues it was experiencing, and the too high pressure level our water was at. He made it clear the urgency needed in replacing the water heater and lowering the water pressure level, but he never made us feel pressured to make any decisions right then and there w/him, which we appreciated. However, we still decided in the moment to move forward w/Mike at Goettl b/c we had such a great experience w/Goettl HVAC during the summer, so we trusted him and his recommendations. Thankfully, Mike was able to tackle the biggest problem that same day and at that moment — the water pressure level. He made us feel like a priority and that our peace of mind, finances, and home mattered. We were able to get in just a couple of business days later for the whole water heater revamp. Day of water heater installation, Mike showed up on time, early, and completed the work in just a few hours. It was impressive. He left the work area clean, debris free, and his final work looks amazing. Mike was personable, professional, and made us feel like he genuinely cared about our home. 10/10 would recommend Mike H from Goettl. 10/10 would recommend Goettl in general — great company, knowledgeable service technicians, affordable prices, and amazing work.

We ordered a new refrigerator from Lowe’s. When they delivered it, they said they could not install the water line. We were not familiar with plumbers so we asked our neighbor who did the plumbing in his new shower. He said Goettl and he was very happy with the results. I called them they sent out a wonderful servicemen, Gerardo Gonzalez. The builders had used 3/8” pipes and Lowe’s seemed to only have 1/4” connectors. Gerardo solved our problem and we had to get Lowe’s out again the next day to finish the install. We highly recommend Goettl and appreciate the caliber of their staff!

Installation day was when they said it would be. They scheduled the building permit, attended the inspection, and it was on time. We called on a Saturday and thankfully Christian Acosta was the one on call to help us out. Company sent us Stanley to help with a water line for our refrigerator. Had several problems but Stanley was very knowledgeable and informed us of all decisions and you could tell he just lived his job. It was a pricey fix and I respected Stanley more for being situationally aware that my wife and I needed to talk in private. He informed us, gave space and time to decide, and ultimately helped us out with the repairs. Others in management were very helpful too. Overall great experience

Andrew was on time, determined the flange needed to be replaced, gave us the quote and scope of work, and made the repairs. He explained how the placement was off, and that it appeared to have been like that since construction (21 years ago when we built).

Nicholas Mayhew came to our home to repair/replace the garbage disposal, unclog a kitchen sink and replace a bathtub spigot. He was assisted by Caleb. Nick gave three price quotes and options on what to repair before any work was started. He and Caleb repaired all in a matter of a little more than two hours, including a parts run.
