Ways to Save Water in Your Home

Water is obviously an absolute necessity when it comes to resources in your home. Not only does it play a major role in keeping your home and body clean and hygienic, but it is absolutely necessary to keep your body functioning, alive and well, at the biological level. Knowing all of this doesn’t make it any less irksome to see a very high water bill come through, however. But you can’t go without water, so what can you do, right?

Wrong. There is plenty that you can be doing to reduce your water costs, and the main method is right there in what we just said: reduce! Obviously you’re going to continue to use water in your home. That is never going to change. But you want to be sure that you are using water in a smart and thoughtful manner. Here are some helpful tips.

Use a Faucet Aerator

This is one of the simplest ways in which you can start to scale back water usage in your home. The best part? Once that aerator is in place, you’re probably never really going to think about it again. The fact is that for most applications in your home, a full draft from the faucet is more than you really need.

A faucet aerator basically just attaches to the faucet in question—we recommend installation at all faucets—and allows for the mixing of air and the water coming from the faucet. That means that you’re going to be using less water, while still having access to the water that you need for cleaning up, brushing teeth, washing hair, etc. Keep it simple, keep it effective. Aerate!

Run Water Only When Using Water

Bad habits can be tough to break. Even tougher to break are bad habits on behalf of others in your home. We cannot stress this one enough, though. You need to use the water in your home only when you’re actually using it! What does that mean?

It means that you don’t keep the water running when you’re brushing your teeth, or when you’re scrubbing pots and pans. Sure, the shower can be soothing—but when you’re done cleaning up, don’t just stand there soaking in the atmosphere! Again, a little bit of conservation can really go a long way when it comes to keeping your water bill manageable.

When Replacing Equipment, Keep Conservation in Mind

We’re not suggesting that you need to rip out all of your plumbing fixtures right now, especially when they’re not that old and they’re functioning just fine. Keep the matter of conservation in mind moving forward, though. From low-flow toilets to front-loading washing machines, there are a lot of appliances and fixtures out there ready and willing to do most of the work for you when it comes to cutting back on your water consumption. I run an Airbnb with 5 rooms in my home, and my tankless water heater suddenly went out. In my case, this was an emergency, especially with the weather getting colder. Goettl ensured that a technician arrived within a few hours, and Juan Gil showed up in good spirits and ready to solve the puzzle.

Like most people, I typically search for the cheapest service I can find, and I end up having other plumbers come out to check out issues with my tankless water heater, who run their mouths, upsell parts (that don't seem to be causing the problem), and generally don't really know enough about tankless water heaters. This time, I decided to go with an experienced company with a good reputation, and I am glad that I did - Goettl's prices are very reasonable and worth the service they provide.

Juan, was very knowledgeable, patient, and persistent. Even better, he was careful and humble enough to acknowledge that he didn't know everything and checked with the manufacturer at every step. Juan spent a great deal of time helping me diagnose the problem (which always seems impossible to ascertain quickly with machines like tankless water heaters), and went above and beyond to ensure that my guests and I had hot water tonight.

Juan never got frustrated; he handled everything carefully and made sure to clean up after himself when he was done. If I can have Juan take care of all of my plumbing or AC issues in the future, I will. And if you're reading reviews to decide whether to call Goettl for your issue, I would encourage you to trust their service and experience. My experience with Juan was definitely memorable.

We now have hot water again. Can I get a "hell yeah"?

Clogged toilet with slow flushing that affected the shower drainage as well.
My house is a 1944 home with some old pipes. There's no "let out"
Plumbing specialist Andrew came up with the option to remove the toilet and use the camera and auger. Found out the problem was one of the pipes below is cast iron with jagged edges,in which tp would get caught up and in time caused the clog.
He cleared the pipe and everything is draining properly now!
He did mention on replacing the old pipe because of the jagged edge situation, but my budget is a bit on the tight side in which I have to put it off a little longer, he understood. We both agreed on limiting tp flushing,especially with little ones.
All in all great experience 5 stars to Goettl and 5 stars to Andrew, thanks man!

PS: I paid $408 for everything
For me a reasonable price due to the labor I saw and tools that were used, but ultimately my toilet fluhes and my shower drains!

Chris was our HVAC specialist, he was very thorough and pointed out some new things on the app. Chris’ inspection revealed we had mold in our plenum, in the early stages. Pablo arrived in the window that was promised. He was very efficient when something wasn’t working quite right. He found another workaround to inspect my heating system. He cleaned off the firing point with sandpaper as I’ve seen many other technicians. Do he inspected everything took pictures of everything and sent the pictures to me. He asked if I would be interested in a price on a new system. I told him not at this time there was no hard sell. My system is now 21 years old. I plan to replace the heater and air conditioner, but not for another few years. I found four seasons to be excellent and Goettl to be just as good.

This was included in our membership with no extra charge. He and his partner also found the mystery leak in the guest bathroom toilet and replaced the guts and seals. The thing I liked the best was his advice about maintenance and how that little hole in the sink is a real drain that also needs flushing out by letting the sink fill up periodically. We ordered a new refrigerator from Lowe’s. When they delivered it, they said they could not install the water line. We were not familiar with plumbers so we asked our neighbor who did the plumbing in his new shower. He said Goettl and he was very happy with the results. I called them they sent out a wonderful servicemen, Gerardo Gonzalez. The builders had used 3/8” pipes and Lowe’s seemed to only have 1/4” connectors. Gerardo solved our problem and we had to get Lowe’s out again the next day to finish the install. We highly recommend Goettl and appreciate the caliber of their staff!

Installation day was when they said it would be. They scheduled the building permit, attended the inspection, and it was on time.
