Drain Clogs: Some Truths to Consider
There is no getting around how inconvenient plumbing problems of all shapes and sizes are. You rely on your plumbing system for so much, every day, throughout the entire day. Getting ready for work, cooking meals, washing dirty clothes, cleaning up at the end of the day. Your plumbing system is truly integral to so many different parts of your life. With that in mind, let’s reassess our opening statement. Yes, plumbing problems are inconvenient. But that’s to say the least!
Plumbing problems can really bring your daily routine grind to a halt. And once that happens, it can be tough to get things going again. And this is when it becomes really messy. Why? Because people start telling themselves that they can handle the fix on their own. It’s just a clogged drain, they tell themselves. I can handle this. I’ve got some liquid drain cleaner. I can buy a drain snake. And so it begins. And headaches follow.
There Is Some Good News
No, we are not going to tell you some secret that will make you capable of effectively handling drain cleaning services on your own. That is and always will be a job that is best left to trained professionals. However, there are plenty of adjustments that you can probably make in your day to day life that will help to limit the occurrences of clogged drains in your home. The hard truth of the matter is that many of these clogs are caused, at least in part, by behaviors that can be modified or practices that homeowners just don’t realize are detrimental.
Your Garbage Disposal Is Not a Do-It-All Appliance
Some people really seem to think that installing a garbage disposal in the kitchen means that they can put just about anything down that drain. This is not entirely true, though. There are plenty of things that should not go down the garbage disposal. Some of them, like very fibrous foods, can get wrapped up in the disposal itself and strain the device until damage is done. Then there are other materials, like pasta, beans, or liquified fats, that can and will lead to clogs.
Starchy products may go through the garbage disposal just fine, but they can take on water and swell up even after they’re processed, leading to very stubborn blockages. Then there is oil, grease, and fat to consider. Your garbage disposal is not going to do anything to manage these materials, and they will congeal as they cool in your pipes. That will also lead to serious clogs. So yes, a garbage disposal is a super helpful appliance, but only when used properly and within its intended scope.
Unfortunately, You Can’t Prevent All Problems
Being careful with your garbage disposal, using drain guards, removing hair and whiskers from drains rather than trying to flush them down through the system—all of these measures are really going to help you to cut back on the occurrence of clogs in your drains. There is really very little that you can do to prevent problems like tree roots growing into your pipes, though. When you’re planting new trees or bushes, keep the location of pipes in mind. But other than that, just keep the possibility in mind, and keep our number handy!

This was my 1st time calling Goettl for my AC needs. I was a little hesitant since I am a DIYer and like to do and save on everything but I wasnt available this time around. I had a no cooling issue that Mr. Benavides quickly troubleshot; he replaced the capacitor at a decent price (considering the market) making everyones life happier. The service we received was done in a professional manner. First, Ryan explained the cost in a detailed manner prior to repairs being done. Secondly, he addressed the cost increase due to a broken part that was not visible until removal of the toilet. All the work was done a professional manner and we were updated on the progress of work being done. The gentleman that arrived for the assessment and repair of my AC (Mr. Jorge Gutierrez) was outstanding. His Customer Service was top notch, beyond just being friendly. He explained everything that he was doing and before conducting any tests, he would explain what is ideal and what are the limits regarding what he was looking at. Beyond my initial call, I had some follow up questions which he was more than happy to answer and explain. Upon further review, there were some additional issues found (not the “go in for oil change, now you need a new transmission” type of issue), but which helped to clarify the situation and for which he provided several suggestions on how we could move forward. I am an extremely cheap person but my family’s health and well being is first and foremost. And when you’ve got two girls and a wife who absolutely hate the heat (and here in Texas we get plenty of that), their happiness is my happiness (in more ways than one). So with Mr. Gutierrez’ explanations and suggestions in front of me, I made a decision which despite the cost, I feel comfortable and satisfied with. I’ve got his Contact info as well as his Supervisor (Carlos), so if anything comes up in the future or if there’s additional projects I’d like to have done in my home, I’ll definitely be requesting him personally.Good Customer Service is terribly undervalued. I was scared and totally unprepared for this fast escalating water leak. It was terrifying. Ryan and Kaelen came and patiently and thoroughly explained what was happening. What was the procedure to locate the issue, what they would need to do to assess and repair the issue and as they exposed the problem they showed me what was happening each time I came out. They educated me fully so I will be able to handle any future issues confidently. They confirmed the leak was resolved and showed me how to use the new turn off if needed in the future. This is Leticia Baca and my husband Ed! We are in the midst of finishing a huge project involving kitchen pipes and old sewer line; replacing them all. It is by far the most expensive plumbing project we have ever undertaken. Nacho came by and did a very though and complete inspection. He noted two things that needed to be fixed and got it scheduled. He also explained the process that Goettl uses with the City Inspectors.

Great review for Goettl Plumbing.We had an blockage in our sewer line.Tyler Leija was dispatched the same day, and found the blockage using a camera tool.He cleared the blockage temporarily.The actual fix would require digging up and replacing the bad area of pipe.Paulo "Adrian" Dado and his crew came out the next day with backhoe, dug up the area, and replaced the section of pipe.The next day, after inspection, Adrian and his crew filled in the hole and then cleaned up the area.This is a brief description. There was A LOT of work involved.Very professional work.
Billy and John were awesome. Set up everything perfectly and went the extra mile to take care of some additional needs. Definitely the best A/C experience yet.Our tech Jorge that came out the day before helped quickly assess the situation and get us set up for a new system and water heater. Jorge was very friendly, would highly recommend!
Jesus Gloria did an excellent job and explained all the details of what was found and went through the options to choose from and what each option would give. Decision is easy.Frank did an excellent job at explaining every thing in terms that were understandable to both myself and my wife. This greatly assisted in making the right decision to look at all options on either repair or update/purchase for the future and in the long term, saving money.

Had Jesus come out and inspect my AC unit after it stopped working and he really hit the mark on creating a friendly professional environment and helped me through this stressful process and to choose the correct path that worked best for me. Everyone from the technicians to the crew who came out and installed my new unit were absolutely incredible and left no trace of them being here working. Would absolutely recommend for any and all services they provide for your home and will be calling them again when we need help.

Darren guerra was great, gave us several options and explained in full detail what needed to be done. Very neat and clean in his work. And finished the job in a timely manner. Very happy overall with everything from start to finish. I did think the price was a little high though but considering it was getting late and didn't have much options.Will definitely call and useGoettle again and I will ask if Darrean could help again.

We were hearing hammering between the walls. Tyler came out to my home to perform an evaluation. After doing several tests he quickly found the issue. We discussed several options. I ultimately opted to have the problem fixed to avoid damage to other appliances. He completed the work in a timely manner.
Peter helped a lot with explaining the root cause of our AC unit not functioning as well as it should be, and explaining why he recommended the fix/parts that he did. Took plenty of time to troubleshoot what was actually going on as opposed to just treating the symptoms, and explained in an easy-to-understand way what he found and how to fix it. He also gave good advice about simple DIY maintenance we can do moving forward to keep the system healthy! Goettl as a whole was very easy to work with and I was able to book an appointment as early as the day following my phone call. Great service from start to finish!

Our AC went down for the upstairs unit. We have a maintenance plan through another company but they do not provide 24/7 service. I called Goettl and I am so happy I did. Jesus Gloria was out within a few hours. I was called to confirm the appointment window. Then texted with the photo attached so I would know who my technician was and the link to track their arrival. Jesus was so professional and explained everything to make sure I understood. He took photos and videos to make sure I could see what he was talking about. Then showed me the photos after the repairs. I am so impressed with this experience. The company very clearly communicates how important customer satisfaction is to them. A+++ service and Jesus did an amazing job. I will definitely consider their maintenance plan in the future which also includes routine plumbing inspections and flushing for the same price other companies charge for HVAC services alone.

Peter Medelez conducted a very thorough system check and confirmed all the same issues previously identified but found an additional issue; tipping the scale to full replacement. We appreciated his professionalism and knowledge: answering all our questions and explaining the issues and options. We ultimately chose Goettl for the replacement option due to their price and professionalism.
