Should I Cool My Home with a Heat Pump?

Considering the fact that we are already dealing with triple digit temperatures, and have been for a few weeks, you probably are not just now thinking about an air conditioning installation. Yes, traditional split central air conditioners are still the most popular systems around. Others are growing more and more popular, though, and using a heat pump in Tucson, AZ can actually benefit you in a few unique ways.

What Is the Heat Pump Difference?

During our very long, very hot cooling season, you are going to be running your air conditioner pretty much around the clock. When summer is in session, the heat pump will operate much like a split central air conditioner. Refrigerant evaporates in the evaporator coil, and heat in the air surrounding that coil is removed. This refrigerant then completes its cycle, making its way out to the condenser coil and being dispersed into the air surrounding it. It is the heat pump’s ability to reverse this operation, though, which truly sets it apart.

You read that right. A heat pump can actually reverse its entire operation. The system essentially sends refrigerant in the opposite direction, reversing the function of its coils, as well. When you need to heat your home, the heat pump will actually use the refrigerant cycle in order to draw heat out of the air outside. This refrigerant is then compressed, and its thermal energy used to heat air for distribution throughout your home. Our AC went down for the upstairs unit. We have a maintenance plan through another company but they do not provide 24/7 service. I called Goettl and I am so happy I did. Jesus Gloria was out within a few hours. I was called to confirm the appointment window. Then texted with the photo attached so I would know who my technician was and the link to track their arrival. Jesus was so professional and explained everything to make sure I understood. He took photos and videos to make sure I could see what he was talking about. A+++ service and Jesus did an amazing job. I called Goettl to get a second opinion on a/c repair options or replacement. Peter Medelez conducted a very thorough system check and confirmed all the same issues previously identified but found an additional issue; tipping the scale to full replacement.
