What Is a Swamp Cooler?

People have been using water to cool themselves for a long time. In fact, there are artifacts and paintings depicting ancient Egyptians and Romans using wet cloths and porous clay items to cool themselves during warm weather. So how can this help you? How Does It Work?

A swamp cooler is a relatively simple system since it doesn’t use any kind of coolant to generate cooler air. The key components of an evaporative cooler are the fan, the water and the saturated pad inside the cooler. The cooling process starts when the cooler’s fan pulls in the dry, warm air from the outside; this air is sucked through a horizontal, saturated pad. As the warm air passes through the cool, wet pad, it loses its heat; the resulting cooler air is then blown into your home. Swamp coolers are not effective in areas where heat is moist, which is why they can be a great option for homes in our area.

They said I needed to replace my a/c. I was given a choice of 5 units. I liked that the 2nd most expensive would balance the temperature in my house. I get full west in my living room in the afternoon. It is always 10 plus degrees hotter on my sofa, than rest of house. So I paid a fortune and it isn't doing what he said it would. They came back and added another vent to my living room. Better, but still not what I was told. I could saved $10k and got the cheaper model. Don't think I have much recourse to get this fixed. The technicians are very good, too bad their salesmen and products are not up to the same standard.

Pablo arrived in the window that was promised. He was very efficient when something wasn’t working quite right. He found another workaround to inspect my heating system. He cleaned off the firing point with sandpaper as I’ve seen many other technicians. Do he inspected everything took pictures of everything and sent the pictures to me. He asked if I would be interested in a price on a new system. I told him not at this time there was no hard sell. My system is now 21 years old. I plan to replace the heater and air conditioner, but not for another few years. I found four seasons to be excellent and Goettl to be just as good.

Today, Rodell did a thorough clean-out of our bathroom sink drains, including sending the camera down to check for build up out to the main connection to the sewer. This was included in our membership with no extra charge. He and his partner also found the mystery leak in the guest bathroom toilet and replaced the guts and seals. The thing I liked the best was his advice about maintenance and how that little hole in the sink is a real drain that also needs flushing out by letting the sink fill up periodically. He reviewed with me some of the items associated with my current installation that might be best updated and replaced. He gave me an estimate and we should. We ordered a new refrigerator from Lowe’s. When they delivered it, they said they could not install the water line. We were not familiar with plumbers so we asked our neighbor who did the plumbing in his new shower. He said Goettl and he was very happy with the results. I called them they sent out a wonderful servicemen, Gerardo Gonzalez. The builders had used 3/8” pipes and Lowe’s seemed to only have 1/4” connectors. Gerardo solved our problem and we had to get Lowe’s out again the next day to finish the install. We highly recommend Goettl and appreciate the caliber of their staff!

This is how a service/install company should work. Price was exactly as quoted and was very fair, comparing to multiple others. They never tried to add on extras like all the others did. Installation day was when they said it would be. They scheduled the building permit, attended the inspection, and it was on time. We have been Sadi club members for years. The service is excellent from the customer service representatives that answer the phone to the individual technicians that come out to your home. Two years ago we replaced our AC unit and went with a Goettl installation after years of having them maintain our older unit.
This past week our service technician was Andrew Morgan and he is such a friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled technician. He spent time making sure the job was done correctly and he explained it in terms that I could understand. We called on a Saturday and thankfully Christian Acosta was the one on call to help us out. Jerry also noticed our water pressure was low after flushing toilet then trying to wash hands in bathroom sink which were so he suggested a new pressure regulator as we have had a new better water conditioning system installed. We now have the best water pressure even when using a shower and kitchen sink faucet at the same time. Also Jerry is a master plumber and we appreciate his knowledge and experience.
