The reason that a heat pump is such a great option in our climate is that it is a powerful home cooling system, with the added benefit of also being an incredibly efficient heater. The only drawback generally associated with heat pumps is that they can sometimes lose energy efficiency or be overwhelmed when faced with extreme cold. However, that is something that we simply do not really have to deal with in this part of the country.
The heat pump, in its cooling mode, will act more or less exactly the way that a central air conditioner does. That is to say that it evaporates refrigerant in the indoor evaporator coil, which allows it to absorb heat from the air in your home. Then, the heat pump transfers that refrigerant out to the outdoor unit, where it is condensed in the condenser coil. This allows it to release that heat into the air outside.
Enter: The Reversing Valve!
A component called the reversing valve is used to reverse the operation of the heat pump, flipping the operation of the coils and the flow of the refrigerant. When you need to heat your home, the refrigerant evaporates in the outdoor unit. It is then compressed before being condensed in the indoor coil.
That allows you to use its thermal energy to heat your home, and that means that don’t have to generate new heat in order to do so. This method of heat transfer is precisely what makes the heat pump such an effective heating system. While heat pumps are all-electric units, they do not rely on electric resistance to create new heat, so they are more affordable to run than, say, an electric furnace.

Had Andrew come out to remove garbage disposal and repipe sink. He also swapped out 13 emergency water shut off valves in 3 bathrooms.
Andrew was professional, courteous and expedient. He did have to run out to get some supplies. He stayed until 7pm to complete the job on one trip.
May 2023 update. Technician Steve came today to do the summer rejuvenation. Friendly and professional tech. Explained the process and findings. Both systems are new, so everything checked out good. Did a god cleaning of coils and now all set for the summer season. Had them out for fall prevention service and to review the systems that are here. I just bought the house and needed to understand what was in place.
The service tech, Kevin was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He explained and provided photos and video of all components. He ensured keeping house clean and wore booties.
My second unit is not in the best shape, and Kevin explained each of the issues. I will follow up with service managér to determine next steps (repair or replacement).
I signed up for there service plan and am very pleased with the service and communication to date

Jef came to our house to diagnose why our 22 year-old furnace wouldn't run correctly. He was very courteous and willing to answer my questions with as much detail as I wanted. I never felt like he was trying to sell me more than was needed to get the furnace running again. He explained, with pictures of our furnace's components, what he found when he inspected it. It simply needed a cleaning and routine service which fortunately was not a huge expense.
He explained, while he saw no immediate problems. what we might expect going forward, given the furnace's age and condition. After I asked about major component vs. whole-unit replacement, he provided a thorough explanation, and pricing, of options for us to consider.

Shortly after he visited my hot water room he requested be to accompany him to observe there was a stream of water coming out of thr drain pan. He reviewed with me some of the items associated with my current installation that might be best updated and replaced. He gave me an estimate and we should. Michael did a great job for us today. Our sewage line was completely blocked by roots. He showed me with the camera and educated me on what was happening to our old iron cast line. He knew what he was doing, the what, the why is this happening. This is going to be a major project having to replace the entire line and he informed me on how this process works and the time and effort and safety it takes to replace a line. We ordered a new refrigerator from Lowe’s. When they delivered it, they said they could not install the water line. We were not familiar with plumbers so we asked our neighbor who did the plumbing in his new shower. He said Goettl and he was very happy with the results. I called them they sent out a wonderful servicemen, Gerardo Gonzalez. The builders had used 3/8” pipes and Lowe’s seemed to only have 1/4” connectors. Gerardo solved our problem and we had to get Lowe’s out again the next day to finish the install. We highly recommend Goettl and appreciate the caliber of their staff!

We called on a Saturday and thankfully Christian Acosta was the one on call to help us out. Andrew was on time, determined the flange needed to be replaced, gave us the quote and scope of work, and made the repairs. He explained how the placement was off, and that it appeared to have been like that since construction (21 years ago when we built).

Russ Sapp came yesterday 8/18/25. He was prompt, very courteous, explained what he was doing with taking pictures of our AC unit and what areas of the AC unit needed attention. He didn’t rush. He spent time answering our many questions. He gave us options and gave us price quotes on the spot for each service we had asked about or that he suggested. He had a sense of humor as I said to him “I take it Sadie approved of you?” I took that from the commercials saying if Sadie doesn’t like the person, they’re not hired. I’d ask for Russ again. He has an A+ rating.

Nicholas Mayhew came to our home to repair/replace the garbage disposal, unclog a kitchen sink and replace a bathtub spigot. He was assisted by Caleb. We have had Goettl of Tucson service for about a year and thank goodness we had them to call when our AC failed and had a condensation leak in the attic . Goettl sent ROBERT out right away. He did a thorough inspection and informed us of what we already felt we needed to do with our old system. He sat down with me and went through the pros and cons of repairing the old vs replacement. He explained everything about a new Goettl system. From all the benefits, to the great warranties to the peace of mind we’d have not having to worry what would and could happen next to the old system. He was friendly, thoughtful and professional. Bobby Smith is great at explaining the options I have with my AC and Heater. He also let me know about the maintenance plan which is going to be great for me so I can always keep up to date with the AC and the heater. Also I didn't know that you did plumbing and he said I could get plumbing work done too so I am going to do that right away. I liked the photos that were taken to explain the situation on where I am at with the unit. All in all it was the best technician experience I have had since becoming a home owner in 2010. I would highly recommend Geottl and Bobby to anyone because of getting things right the first time, going out of his way to help, following up and keeping promises, and great product and technical knowledge. I'm not super informed on my home machines so it is comforting to be in good hands.
