The reason that a heat pump is such a great option in our climate is that it is a powerful home cooling system, with the added benefit of also being an incredibly efficient heater. The only drawback generally associated with heat pumps is that they can sometimes lose energy efficiency or be overwhelmed when faced with extreme cold. However, that is something that we simply do not really have to deal with in this part of the country.

The heat pump, in its cooling mode, will act more or less exactly the way that a central air conditioner does. That is to say that it evaporates refrigerant in the indoor evaporator coil, which allows it to absorb heat from the air in your home. Then, the heat pump transfers that refrigerant out to the outdoor unit, where it is condensed in the condenser coil. This allows it to release that heat into the air outside.

Enter: The Reversing Valve!

A component called the reversing valve is used to reverse the operation of the heat pump, flipping the operation of the coils and the flow of the refrigerant. When you need to heat your home, the refrigerant evaporates in the outdoor unit. It is then compressed before being condensed in the indoor coil.

That allows you to use its thermal energy to heat your home, and that means that don’t have to generate new heat in order to do so. This method of heat transfer is precisely what makes the heat pump such an effective heating system. While heat pumps are all-electric units, they do not rely on electric resistance to create new heat, so they are more affordable to run than, say, an electric furnace.

They said I needed to replace my a/c. I was given a choice of 5 units. I liked that the 2nd most expensive would balance the temperature in my house. I get full west in my living room in the afternoon. It is always 10 plus degrees hotter on my sofa, than rest of house. So I paid a fortune and it isn't doing what he said it would. They came back and added another vent to my living room. Better, but still not what I was told. I could saved $10k and got the cheaper model. Don't think I have much recourse to get this fixed. The technicians are very good, too bad their salesmen and products are not up to the same standard.

Original order of checking thermostat. And why heat would not kick on right away
It was taking several degrees to heat up the house. Air conditioning works great.
He went and checked thermostat and suggested a new thermostat. $800 for two installed. 👀
He then checked furnace in attic.
The fresh air exchanger was pretty dusty and he could clean it for under a hundred $. I said go ahead because exchanger runs ten minutes per hour to keep fresh air circulating. So price was $99. Still a lot for cleaning a screen.
It seemed to have worked in conjunction with thermostat because it’s been working properly since he left.
Im glad I didn’t spend $800. But only $228 .

I'm reviewing Goettl’s maintenance inspections for HVAC and plumbing. Chris was our HVAC specialist, he was very thorough and pointed out some new things on the app. Chris’ inspection revealed we had mold in our plenum, in the early stages. He gave us options, including the nil option, the maintenance and inspection were free. I have Sadie Service. I always get my hvac system serviced before summer and before az winter.. Deano was my service technician. Pablo arrived in the window that was promised. He was very efficient when something wasn’t working quite right. He found another workaround to inspect my heating system. He cleaned off the firing point with sandpaper as I’ve seen many other technicians. Do he inspected everything took pictures of everything and sent the pictures to me. He asked if I would be interested in a price on a new system. I told him not at this time there was no hard sell. My system is now 21 years old. I plan to replace the heater and air conditioner, but not for another few years. I found four seasons to be excellent and Goettl to be just as good.

This was included in our membership with no extra charge. He and his partner also found the mystery leak in the guest bathroom toilet and replaced the guts and seals. The thing I liked the best was his advice about maintenance and how that little hole in the sink is a real drain that also needs flushing out by letting the sink fill up periodically. We ordered a new refrigerator from Lowe’s. When they delivered it, they said they could not install the water line. We were not familiar with plumbers so we asked our neighbor who did the plumbing in his new shower. He said Goettl and he was very happy with the results. I called them they sent out a wonderful servicemen, Gerardo Gonzalez. The builders had used 3/8” pipes and Lowe’s seemed to only have 1/4” connectors. Gerardo solved our problem and we had to get Lowe’s out again the next day to finish the install. We highly recommend Goettl and appreciate the caliber of their staff!

Installation day was when they said it would be. They scheduled the building permit, attended the inspection, and it was on time. We called on a Saturday and thankfully Christian Acosta was the one on call to help us out. Had a gas line in my home that needed repair. Goettl was quick to send a technician that night even though it was well past business hours. Chris came over and gave us a quote. He made sure we knew our payment options and thoroughly explained what the repair was going to be like and the steps we needed to take with the gas company.
