Maintenance on your heater is something to keep in mind during all seasons, even during a super-heated summer. If more than a year has passed since you had your furnace or heat pump scheduled for an inspection and tune-up session, late spring and summer are good times to take care of this. You’ll have peace of mind knowing that you can warm up your home on the first cold day of the year with as few problems as possible.

What to expect during heating system maintenance
A tune-up for your heater will vary depending on what sort of system you have: furnace (gas or electric), heat pump, radiant floor heating, etc.
- Thermostat checks and calibrations (all systems)
- Airflow tests (forced-air systems)
- Cleaning the burner (gas-powered furnaces)
- Cleaning coils (heat pumps)
- Cleaning other dirt- and dust-contaminated components (all systems)
- Tightening electrical connections (all systems; gas-powered heaters have electrical connections as well)
- Checking gas flow on main natural gas line (gas-powered heaters)
- Checking for heat exchanger cracks (gas-powered furnaces)
- Examining floorboards for pipe leaks (radiant heating systems)
- Replacing the air filter (all forced-air systems)
- Flushing the tank (radiant heating systems)
- Inspecting indoor blower motors (forced-air systems)
- Cleaning the condensate pan (heat pumps)
- Checking the control panel (all systems)
- Recharging any lost refrigerant (heat pumps)
How the session goes depends on whether the technician finds faults that he or she can fix on the spot, or else make recommendations for the repairs that will remedy the problem. When the technician has finished the inspection and tune-up, your system will receive a check to make sure that it uses energy efficiently and provides the right level of heating to keep you comfortable.

I would always hear their commercials on the radio about the company name being hard to spell - it just sort of stuck in my head I guess. Then one morning, everyone in the house is complaining that there wasn't any hot water. I went in to check on the water heater - only to find it was flooding everywhere - coming out of the top. Some type of valve had failed and it was a mess. I remembered that hard-to-spell company name and decided to give them a shot.
To my surprise, the rep came out within a hour or so - that same morning. He educated me on a few tips - like not needing to shut off the water to the entire house in a situation like this - and a few other tips, but as for the water heater - it was toast and already beyond the warranty it had.
There was zero sales pressure for a specific water heater - and instead, he spent quite a bit of time with my wife and I going over the many different options they had for replacing one.
Once again to my surprise, after we picked one - he was already on the phone with a crew and the installation was set for that same day - no extra charges for an emergency situation or anything like that. The crew came out a couple hours later and they, too, were very polite and professional - discussing everything with me before they started touching anything. There was some additional work that had to be done because of the allignment of my exhaust piping - but they all stayed there for the rest of the day - making sure the system was installed that very same day as promised.
My wife and I couldn't be happier with the quality of their customer service, installation, and products. The entire team has been lovely.

My A/C stopped working in the Texas heat. Luckily, I was a member of their maintenance program which is very reasonably priced! Tech stopped by first thing the next morning. Turned out my outside A/C circuit breaker had tripped presumably due to age or overheating. Tech didn’t charge me (plan benefit) and recommended I have an electrician inspect and replace the breaker to avoid a repeat. 5-star service 🙂

We ordered a new refrigerator from Lowe’s. When they delivered it, they said they could not install the water line. We were not familiar with plumbers so we asked our neighbor who did the plumbing in his new shower. He said Goettl and he was very happy with the results. I called them they sent out a wonderful servicemen, Gerardo Gonzalez. The builders had used 3/8” pipes and Lowe’s seemed to only have 1/4” connectors. Gerardo solved our problem and we had to get Lowe’s out again the next day to finish the install. We highly recommend Goettl and appreciate the caliber of their staff!

My service technician today was Angel Rodriguez. He was wonderful! I am a member of Goettl‘s monitoring service and I pay a monthly fee of $19.95. I’m not very computer savvy so I wasn’t using the app that all the in-house sensors connect to. Angel explained things to me and showed me how to do it online so now I understand what all these sensors are doing in the house and what they can tell me and help me with as far as troubleshooting any problems before they occur. . My system is new this spring from Goettl and the condensation drain pipe hasn’t been putting out much water all summer. I’m used to water coming out of these pipes so I asked Angel to check it and he did by pouring some water through it and it was flowing fine on the other end. Angel explained that when the system is new, it just doesn’t have that much condensation to drain. Also the heater needed some adjusting to work properly and Angel knew what he was doing and fixed everything so everything works properly now as far as air conditioning and heating. Angel inspected the ductwork in the attic and pointed out some issues that I should address whether it’s on my own or hiring Goettle to do the work. Angel put no pressure on me to have his company do the work. I can’t say enough good things about this man. Very professional and knowledgeable. I hope to have him be my technician anytime I need somebody coming out to perform maintenance or fix my system. Thank you, Angel Rodriguez!

Michael provided excellent services, over 2 days. On the first day, he repaired an irrigation leak, cleared a kitchen drain, replaced a garbage disposal and a kitchen faucet. He cleaned off the firing point with sandpaper as I’ve seen many other technicians. Do he inspected everything took pictures of everything and sent the pictures to me. He asked if I would be interested in a price on a new system. I told him not at this time there was no hard sell. My system is now 21 years old. I plan to replace the heater and air conditioner, but not for another few years. I found four seasons to be excellent and Goettl to be just as good.

We called on a Saturday and thankfully Christian Acosta was the one on call to help us out. He got us set up with a window unit for the time being and. Fast forward to today, Wednesday, and Christian and Ian came to install a new blower motor for us. Both gentleman were wonderful! Thank you Jerry for two plumbing jobs well done. Jerry cleaned out pipes from bathroom sink which were draining slowly. Jerry showed before and after pictures from his camera and what a big difference. Sink draining much better now.
Jerry also noticed our water pressure was low after flushing toilet then trying to wash hands in bathroom sink which were so he suggested a new pressure regulator as we have had a new better water conditioning system installed. We now have the best water pressure even when using a shower and kitchen sink faucet at the same time. Also Jerry is a master plumber and we appreciate his knowledge and experience. Will definitely call Goettl again when a plumber is needed.

Company sent us Stanley to help with a water line for our refrigerator. Had several problems but Stanley was very knowledgeable and informed us of all decisions and you could tell he just lived his job. It was a pricey fix and I respected Stanley more for being situationally aware that my wife and I needed to talk in private. Russ Sapp came yesterday 8/18/25. He was prompt, very courteous, explained what he was doing with taking pictures of our AC unit and what areas of the AC unit needed attention. He didn’t rush. He spent time answering our many questions. He gave us options and gave us price quotes on the spot for each service we had asked about or that he suggested. He had a sense of humor as I said to him “I take it Sadie approved of you?” I took that from the commercials saying if Sadie doesn’t like the person, they’re not hired. I’d ask for Russ again. We have had Goettl of Tucson service for about a year and thank goodness we had them to call when our AC failed and had a condensation leak in the attic . Goettl sent ROBERT out right away. Bobby Smith is great at explaining the options I have with my AC and Heater. He also let me know about the maintenance plan which is going to be great for me so I can always keep up to date with the AC and the heater. Also I didn't know that you did plumbing and he said I could get plumbing work done too so I am going to do that right away. I liked the photos that were taken to explain the situation on where I am at with the unit. All in all it was the best technician experience I have had since becoming a home owner in 2010. I would highly recommend Geottl and Bobby to anyone because of getting things right the first time, going out of his way to help, following up and keeping promises, and great product and technical knowledge. I'm not super informed on my home machines so it is comforting to be in good hands.
