Is a Ductless Mini Split System Right for Me?
Forced air heating and cooling systems remain the most popular types of systems in the residential market today. The fact of the matter is, though, that our winter weather is fairly mild. Winter temperatures around here don’t drop below freezing with great regularity, and even the chilliest nights are not going to see subzero temperatures. With that in mind, forgoing the classic forced air heater — the furnace — may be an option to consider.
If you are interested in alternative HVAC systems that are a great fit for our particular climate, then you should definitely consider using a ductless mini split system in Las Vegas, NV. Not only does the way in which a ductless mini split system heat fit our location well, but it can actually double as a powerful air conditioner while eliminating issues associated with ductwork. It may sound a bit confusing, but we’re happy to help you better understand how a ductless system can benefit you.
First Things First: Heating and Cooling?
That’s right! You may have heard of a heat pump by now, as they are increasingly common and frequently used in warmer climates like ours. Heat pumps do not generate heat in order to warm homes, but instead use a refrigerant cycle in order to draw heat out of the air outside by evaporating refrigerant in the outdoor unit. The refrigerant is compressed and its heat is used to heat indoors as it is condensed. This is the opposite of how a central AC works. The system can reverse its refrigerant cycle, though, meaning that it can use that cycle to offer both heating and cooling. A ductless mini split is a heat pump, but does not use a central indoor unit or air ducts.
So How Does It Work without Ducts?
A ductless system utilizes an outdoor unit, along with individual indoor blower units. Typically, an outdoor unit will support up to 4 indoor units. These units are generally wall-mounted, and heat/cool the rooms in which they are installed directly. The indoor and outdoor units are connected via a simple conduit that contains power, refrigerant, and any necessary drainage lines.
But Why Eliminate Ductwork?
There are a few benefits that you’ll enjoy by eliminating ductwork. First of all, it makes installing the system in existing homes far more convenient and straightforward. Another benefit is that you don’t have to worry about ducts leaking, and this is a big one. When air ducts leak, and they often do, homeowners generally aren’t aware of it. At least, not for some time. That can lead to serious energy loss and high energy costs.
Plus, you don’t just have to worry about air leaking out of air ducts. It is also possible for pollutants to make their way into the system. When that happens, the air ducts can then spread those pollutants throughout the entire house. This can drag down indoor air quality, leading to aggravated allergy and asthma symptoms.
Finally, there is the fact that choosing to use a ductless system can actually just help everyone in your home to live more comfortably. Zone control is an inherent feature of the ductless mini split, as each blower is controlled independently of the other. That means that you can maintain different temperatures in different areas of the house, helping to reduce arguments about temperature settings.

Was very pleased with Goettl and Matthew Lopez. They came into our home and looked at our system and let us know what was wrong with it. They were not pushy or demanding, but opposite they were caring. We had several techs come to our house to fix our issues but they did not fix it. Matthew showed his frustration because they did not fix our issues. Matthew explained what needed to be done to make our unit run more efficient. We thank him for his expertise. Will use them again.

The gentleman that arrived for the assessment and repair of my AC (Mr. Jorge Gutierrez) was outstanding. His Customer Service was top notch, beyond just being friendly. He explained everything that he was doing and before conducting any tests, he would explain what is ideal and what are the limits regarding what he was looking at. Beyond my initial call, I had some follow up questions which he was more than happy to answer and explain. Upon further review, there were some additional issues found (not the “go in for oil change, now you need a new transmission” type of issue), but which helped to clarify the situation and for which he provided several suggestions on how we could move forward. I am an extremely cheap person but my family’s health and well being is first and foremost. And when you’ve got two girls and a wife who absolutely hate the heat (and here in Texas we get plenty of that), their happiness is my happiness (in more ways than one). So with Mr. Gutierrez’ explanations and suggestions in front of me, I made a decision which despite the cost, I feel comfortable and satisfied with. I’ve got his Contact info as well as his Supervisor (Carlos), so if anything comes up in the future or if there’s additional projects I’d like to have done in my home, I’ll definitely be requesting him personally.

I was scared and totally unprepared for this fast escalating water leak. It was terrifying. Ryan and Kaelen came and patiently and thoroughly explained what was happening. What was the procedure to locate the issue, what they would need to do to assess and repair the issue and as they exposed the problem they showed me what was happening each time I came out. They educated me fully so I will be able to handle any future issues confidently. They confirmed the leak was resolved and showed me how to use the new turn off if needed in the future. I visited the Goettl website and chatted with Zayne, who was extremely helpful. He was able to schedule a same-day service call to help with our issue. Peter M. arrived within the hour and quickly diagnosed an issue with our AC. He explained the problems in great detail and was extremely professional and polite. Because we still had an issue with a leak that was not coming from the AC, Peter was able to get another member of the Goettl team to come out and help diagnose that issue! Overall great experience with Goettl, so far! Hopefully the leak will be found soon!

Goettl sent Ryan to fix my clogged drain. He arrived. On time and cleared my drain quickly. Advised me of a break that was In the cities right-of-way. And sent a video confirming his findings. All for less than $100. Glad I chose Goettl!

Had Jesus come out and inspect my AC unit after it stopped working and he really hit the mark on creating a friendly professional environment and helped me through this stressful process and to choose the correct path that worked best for me. Everyone from the technicians to the crew who came out and installed my new unit were absolutely incredible and left no trace of them being here working. Darren guerra was great, gave us several options and explained in full detail what needed to be done. Very neat and clean in his work. And finished the job in a timely manner. Very happy overall with everything from start to finish. I did think the price was a little high though but considering it was getting late and didn't have much options.

We were hearing hammering between the walls. Tyler came out to my home to perform an evaluation. After doing several tests he quickly found the issue. We discussed several options. I ultimately opted to have the problem fixed to avoid damage to other appliances. He completed the work in a timely manner.
Peter helped a lot with explaining the root cause of our AC unit not functioning as well as it should be, and explaining why he recommended the fix/parts that he did. Took plenty of time to troubleshoot what was actually going on as opposed to just treating the symptoms, and explained in an easy-to-understand way what he found and how to fix it. He also gave good advice about simple DIY maintenance we can do moving forward to keep the system healthy! Goettl as a whole was very easy to work with and I was able to book an appointment as early as the day following my phone call. Great service from start to finish!

Immediately William was able to identify the issue and even went a step further for us to identify other issues.
