There are some signs to look out for that may indicate a thermostat replacement is necessary:
- AC won’t turn on. First, check that you haven’t blown a fuse or tripped the circuit breaker. If it appears as though your AC should be turning on, but isn’t, then it could potentially be a thermostat issue. There could be a problem with the electrical or wireless connection between the thermostat and the air handler.
- Inadequate cooling. If it feels as though your AC never quite reaches the correct temperature, despite your best efforts at setting the thermostat, then your thermostat may be faulty. It may not be sensing the correct temperature, and therefore may be shutting the AC off prematurely. While it’s possible that it simply needs to be calibrated, your local AC technician will be able to determine if a replacement would make more sense.
- Older model. If you’re still using a manual conventional thermostat, then you may be missing out on substantial energy savings, as well as ease of use. Digital programmable thermostats allow you to customize your temperature settings at different times of the day and days of the week. Large digital displays are also easier to reader and adjust.
It’s important to have your new thermostat professionally installed to make sure that it operates correctly. For more information, or to schedule a Tucson air conditioning service, call Goettl Good Guys today!
