Tips for Preventing AC Damages

When you live in California, whole-house cooling is pretty much a given. You don’t want to be lugging clunky and inefficient window units up and down the stairs when temperatures cool down for winter and warm right back up for an early start to summer. Considering how vital our central ACs are to our day to day lives around here, it stands to reason that you’ll want to do anything and everything possible to keep that system functioning as reliably, effectively, and efficiently as possible.

While no air conditioner will ever be 100% dependable–and don’t trust anyone that tries to tell you otherwise–there are a few ways in which you can help to keep your air conditioning repairs in Rancho Cucamonga, CA to a bare minimum. We would like to share some of them with you today. We really value our clients, but we understand that you don’t want to be seeing us too frequently to service your AC. When you do run into trouble, though, remember that Goettl Air Conditioning SoCal is the company to call.

Change Your Air Filter

Come on, you may be thinking. That’s what I pay my maintenance technicians for. Well, there a couple of issues with this line of thinking. First of all, your air filter needs to be changed every 1-3 months, if it is anything like the average filter in the average home. That is more frequently than you are having your AC tuned up (which you should definitely be doing, but more on that below!). Secondly, your AC technician does a lot more than that, and a lot more complicated tasks, too.

Changing your air filter is very simple. These filters are quite cheap, as well, and this truly is one of the best ways that you can help to keep your AC repair needs at bay. Why? Because a dirty air filter creates more airflow resistance in your system. That leads to the system working harder than it should have to. That leads to increased wear and tear, that will eventually result in operational problems.

Keep the Outdoor Unit Clean

In our area, you don’t have to worry about the impact that snow and ice building up on your outdoor AC unit can have over the course of the winter season. That being said, it is still important that you check in on your unit every now and then. A number of issues could develop due to a dirty condenser/compressor unit.

Hose it down to remove grass clippings, and be sure to remove any fallen branches or other natural waste from the top of the unit. Failure to do so may allow those items to fall inside and block the fan.

Schedule Maintenance Annually

You saw this one coming, right? When it comes to keeping your air conditioner in the best working condition possible, nothing beats routine air conditioning maintenance.  Be sure to schedule it with us. We’ll give your air conditioner a thorough inspection and we’ll make sure that it is in prime working condition in every way.

G-O-E-T-T-L it’ll keep you cool, but it’s hard to spell.

All our technicians are "Sadie Certified"

Applicants meet the family dog before being hired and pass the Sadie test. If Sadie doesn’t like an applicant, we bet you won’t be comfortable with them in your home. We want to make it for sure that we are putting the right person in your house.
