Change Your Air Filter Regularly
This is one of the simplest steps of air conditioning maintenance, but it is also one of the most effective in terms of protecting the efficiency and operational quality with which your system cools your home. If your air conditioner has a very dirty filter, it is going to have to work harder than it should in order to force air through that filter. This can result not only reduced efficiency levels, but also in unnecessary strain on your system, increasing the risk of operational problems.
Clear Your Outdoor Unit of Debris
Your outdoor unit is a vital part of the air conditioner, obviously. If debris is allowed to fall into the top of the unit, the fan therein can be compromised. You can shut off power to the unit and clear your system of any such debris, as well as cleaning the area surrounding it.
Keep the Outdoor Unit Clean
The fins on your outdoor unit must be kept clean in order to ensure proper airflow. Spray them down if they are very dirty. Should they be visibly bent, you can also straighten them out. Just remember: if you are at all uncomfortable with performing any basic maintenance procedures on your system, just leave them to the pros on our staff. You should be scheduling routine maintenance with a member of our team anyway.
