Blanket Donation Brings Warmth to the Sojourner Center and Inspires Goettl Employees
November 23, 2011
Last week some of our Goettl employees were able to tour one of Arizona’s domestic violence shelters, the Sojourner Center. The Sojourner Center provides shelter and support services to thousands of victims of domestic violence. Goettl chose Sojourner as one of its community partners because of the impact that the shelter has on the lives of the women who seek refuge. Not only does Sojourner give them security and shelter, but their programs help the victims’ transitions back into society.
Goettl had heard that the shelter was low on blankets with the winter season approaching, and wanted to bring Sojourner a pleasant surprise. So, after the tour, Goettl presented Sojourner with 20 plus blankets, cookies for the children from Cookies From Home and a check for $12,000.
“Hearing the stories of actual women and children who escaped their abusers and how the families were able to overcome these hardships was something that I didn’t think much about prior to the tour. These women flee from their homes with only a trash bag of items for them and their children. That gives me perspective on how many things they are missing from their lives,” said Mike Tanna, Goettl Sales Manager.
The Sojourner Center is always looking for new resources, and volunteers are able to help at the center once they have taken classes and become a “Vanguard.” Some of the Goettl employees have already scheduled to take these steps in becoming a resource to the program.
Last week’s tour is the first of many partnerships that Goettl will have with the Sojourner Center. Sojourner will be one of the four charities that will receive toys and supplies from Goettl.
It is always important as a member of any community to give back to those in need. Goettl found the Sojourner Center, and they were able to not only make a donation but also became inspired to continue their efforts through volunteering. There is always going to be a need, it’s the commitments that are made that determine the long term impact.
Huskies Lacrosse Team Inspires Goettl’s Support
November 23, 2011
The Huskies Boys Lacrosse team is one of two Lacrosse teams in Arizona that represent students. They compete against teams in the west as well as within the Arizona LaCrosse League. The organization started in 2001 and has continued to grow over the years with the help of parents, students and companies that believe in them.
Goettl Air Conditioning has always been a proud supporter of local youth sports. “When you have a team like the Huskies who are passionate about what they do, it reminds you to be inspired everyday by what you enjoy. There are kids everywhere who are inspired by sports programs, and there’s a need for local companies to get involved, and that’s what we want to do,” said Goettl General Manager, Guy Boehler.
So what makes the Huskies special? From the awards to records made and broken, this team remains passionate about growing the popularity of the game of lacrosse. It’s with the support of those around them, like Goettl Air Conditioning, that they are able to continue these efforts.
“The Huskies Boys Lacrosse team is extremely grateful to Goettl for partnering with us to expand the opportunities we can provide for our players. The players and their parents work diligently to secure fields, arrange travel to away games, and expand the sport of lacrosse locally and statewide. The assistance and support we receive from community members is invaluable. From all of us, thank you to everyone at Goettl for helping to make this season a success,” said Huskies Lacrosse Head Coach Ben Jones.
The Huskies season goes through December, and then the spring season kicks off in February. To learn more about the team and for more information and to support your local lacrosse club, go to the Huskies website: www.huskiesboydlax.com
Hop On the Jingle Bell Express with Goettl Air Conditioning to Support Four Arizona Children’s Charities This Holiday Season
Goettl Air Conditioning is donating $12,000 in toys, toiletries and clothing to local children organizations in need this December, and you can help
November 05, 2011
Goettl Air Conditioning is launching its first “Jingle Bell Express” toy drive this winter benefitting four local charities. With the holiday season quickly approaching, many shelters throughout the Valley are in need of toys, school supplies, toiletries, blankets and clothing to provide to the children they support.
Goettl is reaching out to Valley residents to help accomplish its goal of providing the needed toys for the Sojourner Center, Hope & A Future, Arizona Children’s Center and Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Those who donate eligible gifts as part of the Goettl Jingle Bell Express toy drive will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of five prizes donated by generous local businesses. Items can be dropped off at the Goettl office located at 1845 W. 1st Street Tempe, AZ 85281.
“After visiting the Sojourner Center last month, we saw how much local shelters are in need of supplies this winter. When leaving a bad situation, the victims that Sojourner assists are usually only able to take a trash bag of things with them. Winter coats and toys are not usually among the items they bring with them, so we are hoping to send lots of necessities to the shelters to help with these needs,” said Guy Boehler, Goettl General Manager.
The Goettl Jingle Bell Express holiday toy drive is just one of the many ways Goettl is giving back to the community. Goettl recently partnered with the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen to launch its “Cool It. For The Cause.” campaign, which will raise $16,000 to donate to breast cancer research. Goettl has also donated blankets, cookies and $12,000 to the Sojourner Center to help victims of domestic violence.
Raffle items include:
- An Autographed Arizona Cardinals item
- One of two $25 Venezia’s Pizzeria gift cards
- A Pearl Necklace courtesy of Ganem Jewelers in Scottsdale
- A Watch courtesy of Ganem Jewelers in Scottsdale
- One of two $25 Discount Cab gift certificates
Goettl Donates to Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October 17, 2011
Everyone at Goettl was thrilled when the opportunity arose to partner with the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Breast cancer has affected many of our employees and their families in some way, so donating to such a great cause that is close to our hearts means a lot to us.
Our “Cool it. For the Cause.” campaign kicked off on August 1, 2011 and will run through August 1, 2012. Goettl will be donating $25 from each new A/C unit sold, and we’re hoping to raise $16,000 over the course of the campaign to help with breast cancer research.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, our Sales Manager, Mike Tanna, met with Development Director Shawn Elmore from the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to present them with Goettl’s first $2,500 donation check in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Mike was proudly wearing his new Goettl shirt, embroidered with the pink breast cancer ribbon. Each Goettl truck will be adorned with a Komen Phoenix ribbon. Keep an eye out for them whenever you spot a Goettl truck on the road!
Shawn was kind enough to say a few words about Goettl’s generous contribution to breast cancer research and the importance of the support from our community.
GOETTL AIR CONDITIONING PARTNERS WITH THE PHOENIX AFFILIATE OF SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE CURE TO “COOL IT. FOR THE CAUSE.”
August 01, 2011
According to the American Cancer Society, every two minutes, one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. In view of this alarming statistic, Arizona’s oldest and most trusted air conditioning and heating service company, Goettl Air Conditioning, has partnered with the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to launch their “Cool it. For the Cause.” program.
Beginning August 1, 2011 through August 1, 2012, Goettl Air Conditioning will donate $25 for each new A/C unit sold to the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Goettl is hoping to raise $16,000 over the course of the campaign to help with cancer research.
“Susan G. Komen for the Cure is close to the personal experiences of several of the Goettl employees whose loved ones have been affected by cancer, including my own mother also being a survivor. Being a leader in the HVAC industry in Arizona, we are hoping that our high sales volume will generate a significant amount of donations,” said Goettl General Manager Guy Boehler.
There have been many previous instances where Goettl has reached out to help the community. When they come across a customer in need, they always take the time to evaluate the situation and see how they can help.
“We had a customer that was laid off but their A/C went out, and the family was without air. We couldn’t bear to see this happen to them, so we found a unit and donated it. We have been a part of Arizona for 72 years and are connected and consider our customers family,” Boehler stated.
Those who would like to send in-kind donations for the “Cool it. For the Cause.” campaign or would like additional information can contact Goettl at 602-386-2728.
